So yesterday Kiddo and I went to visit a friend and her kids - she is new to homeschooling and is feeling a bit overwhelmed. I'll go ahead and fill you in on how God worked this out:
I went to school with "M". She's now a mommy of three and lives just a few miles from me. Her oldest is 7 years old and she has been concerned about the quality of his education in the school he attends, so she decided to try out homeschooling. I offered a short while back to help her figure out how to get started but we didn't set up a time to meet because her family was going to Colorado for a visit before they got started.
Well I haven't slept well the last several days and the other night was no exception. Hubby was super-thoughtful and offered to take Kiddo and I out to lunch so that I would not have to prepare something. We met him at aCity Bites sandwich shop, but we went to the one closer to his office - he reminded me that we wanted to purchase a dictionary and thesaurus for Kiddo and we hadn't yet found one. Just a few blocks from the City Bites is a Half Price Books - I LOVE this place! I could spend hours...and millions $$...in there. We were leaving with the reference books in hand when my cell rings and it is "M" calling...she is nearly in a panic about starting school. (In addition to the fact that while in CO her 3 y/o daughter got sick with a high fever for 2-1/2 days and a 12 hour trip home took 15 hours...it's been a long week for her.) I calmed her down and told her that we were literally a few blocks from her house...we could drop by within a couple of minutes. She was excited and we showed up. The kids hit it off right away and eventually went out back to play for a few minutes. (God worked out the details so that I would be close and avaialble when she needed me - isn't He good? :o)
So a 9 year-old, a 7 year-old and a 3 year-old...they were getting along great when we hear that there is a swarm of mosquitoes. M thinks it is just gnats as she hasn't seen mosquitoes all summer. The kids come in and are covered in bites - it was really sad. But they didn't really care and we just brought them back inside to play. Today when Kiddo was telling Dad and me about the mosquitoes he said that they were "baby mosquitoes" and Hubby - ever concerned about the details - says to Kiddo, "Actually only adults bite so they were full-grown..."
Kiddo replies - NOT joking here: "Then they were PYGMIES!"
I hope you got a good laugh! We are still chuckling. :o)
I'm going to head to bed but will likely have some pics of a small-ish remodeling project in a few days...because we have to make our dining room table fit. (The table is very small, but our dining area is smaller! lol!)
