My Goodness!

It has been a week, I tell you! Last Saturday we had a lot of running around to do and got a lot done...but it was pretty boring stuff so I won't do that to you. :o) Sunday we wound up spending half of the day in Tulsa and got some more errands run (long story why we went up there, but all is well - there was no real emergency. We were just helping out Hubby's parents...we knew they'd do it for us! :o) We did have to miss church, though, and we were all pretty bummed...but we made it to the evening service (a.k.a. my VBS meeting and Kiddo's choir practice) so that was good. I'm going to be in charge of the VBS Teacher's Lounge again - I LOVE that job...and THIS year Mrs. Pink is going to help me, so I think we'll have a BLAST!

Kiddo's shots are still going well, but we learned a valuable lesson last Monday: when his allergy specialist wrote that he was to wear ice packs after the injections for at least 15 minutes, she really knew what she was talking about. (DUH! That's why she gets paid the big buck$! :o) He had been complaining about his arms hurting afterward, so we decided to try it without...and he had HUGE knots on the back of his arms. He DID say that his arms didn't hurt that time, but next week we will try a new way of holding the ice packs on to see if that will help.

Tuesday morning Bible studies are going phenomenally well...it has been a great time of learning and fellowship and each week I am blessed. I am learning so much about myself through this Esther study and I can't wait for Tuesday morning each week! Kiddo has a great time, too, playing with a few friends - AFTER he gets some work done, of course! All the other kids his age are also home schooled so all of them are required to complete work before playing. (Kiddo also enjoys the younger kids...I think he likes to "practice" being a big brother. It is really sweet.) After the Bible study, we had Mrs. Pink and her son over for a little bit. She and I just hung out and chatted and the boys played...inside, outside, with the dog, without the dog...a little bit of everything.

Wednesday...well, AFTER Kiddo got some work done, we got to see my mom and my niece. It was so much fun! They got here around lunch time, so we went to eat and then we went shopping - isn't it nice to spend someone ELSE'S money? :o). We took the kids to the park and got some GREAT pics...however we are STILL having problems getting photos from my phone to the pc so I can't post them yet. I'll add them soon! After mom left, I made it to choir practice! I missed everyone and was thrilled to be there (since we missed the Wednesday before AND Sunday, too) and I had a great time singing and fellowshipping with my friends.

Thursday we hung out with my MIL after Kiddo got his work done and after lunch, we got to spend someone else's money AGAIN! What a week! LOL! We took Kiddo to the park again and he met some new friends but we left early when my nearly nine-year-old son started throwing rocks. Seriously! He KNOWS his Mom well and he knows (since I WAS a playground aide for TWO YEARS at his public school) that I do NOT allow it. He just thought he'd try it, he said. Nice...that's Hubby's son! :o)

Friday it was just me and Kiddo for a while until Hubby decided that Kiddo could stay the night with his parents after all. (Hubby was going to be studying in the morning and I was going to a function - tell you in a minute - so THIS way, Kiddo wouldn't be a distraction for Hubby. That was their plan, anyway - and they are sticking to it! :o) Hubby and I wound up eating Indian food out and it was okay...we MIGHT go back there, but there is a place about 30-40 minutes away that we REALLY like. That's our favorite place so far for Indian food and it's in Norman.

Today I went to a tea party! It was a purity-themed tea at church called the "Daughters of the King Tea" and it was great! I hope to have some pictures from that to post once we get our issues ironed out. It was a special time for girls of ALL ages and I got to go with Mrs. Pink and her two daughters. (Mrs. Pink had to leave early and I took the girls home for Dad.) There was food, laughs, talking, speaking, beautiful dancing, friends and just an all around great time. I'll explain more when I get pictures.

Tomorrow I can't WAIT to get to church. Hubby and Kiddo have to be there early - Hubby is running sound and Kiddo has practice for a song that we are all singing together. The adult choir and all of the kids choirs (combined) are singing a song called "A New Hallelujah". Check this out!

Gotta go for now, but I will post again soon - with pictures I hope! Be well and be blessed!

Sounds like you have had a very full calendar lately. BUt it did seem like a lot of fun stuff going on.

Hope you have a great Sunday. I just love Sunday's. Nothing like being in the Lord's house!

Ow! Allergy shots sound painful! Luxky for your doctor knowing to tell you to use an ice pack!

On the Brink of More Change...

I can feel it. I am on the cusp of something new. Something different. Something beautiful. I still have no idea what God might be up to - and I am truly okay with that at the moment. I have completed another round of Freedom in Christ. God spoke to me in so many ways...and He continues to do so. I feel so very valued and treasured by my Father. I am in relationship with Him in ways that I always wanted - yet never really felt were achievable. As I have put forth the effort to come to Him more consistently and with a growing desire to go deeper, He has been unendingly gracious and faithful. So as I fall on my face, He gently leans in and scoops me up. The panic and anxiety that once ruled my life are far less, and the calm amidst the  chaos has grown exponentially. I know where to go when it begins to grow again...and it does. Sometimes. Yet God is always ready when I call on Him...and that in and of itself are a learning curve for me. I've learned that others are not constant. Sh...

I Have Returned to the Land of the Living...

I promise that I'm around and making it here! It's been pretty crazy what with starting school and becoming a leader in our homeschool support group. (In my defense, I didn't realize that was what I was doing. I thought I was going to coordinate the holiday parties...turns out when you only have one active officer, said officer reserves the right to make you a leader in that group. Hmm. The things you learn. :) School is going okay...or should I be more specific? Social studies, Language Arts and Science are going okay...mathematics? Not so great. We have determined that Hooked on Math is NOT a good match for my child. He gets SO frustrated he winds up in tears within seconds of the MENTION of "Hooked on Math". (While I must admit that a portion of this is due to his processing issues and I want him to learn to be more flexible, I NEVER want him to be THIS stressed out. Therefore we are searching for a new math program/curriculum. I am very interested in Math-U-Se...

Keeping My Eyes Fixed In the Storms of Life

On September 20th, my father-in-law collapsed at home. My mother-in-law called 9-1-1 and emergency crews arrived within a few minutes. During that time, he stopped breathing and had no heartbeat. Emergency crews were able to revive him, and he was transported to a local heart hospital. The next two weeks were nothing short of torturous. In order to stop potential brain damage, he underwent a procedure that chilled his core body temperature almost 10 degrees and then after 24 hours, warmed him to normal body temp. Doctors were unsure if he would awake. However, after 12 days on the ventilator, when it was removed, it was like someone flipped a switch. He simply woke up. Even the doctors were amazed. Still groggy from the medications used during that time, he remembers nothing from that time, until about 5 days later, shortly before he had his pacemaker installed. Twenty-two days after his "cardiac event", he was released from the hospital. Still quite weak, he continues to g...
