Wow! It's Getting COLD Out There! :o)

So we bundled up and got to church early this morning...we have to be there just after 8am when Hubby runs sound and on those days I usually sing on the Worship Team - today was no exception. We had a great practice and run-through and I went to our "Adult Bible Fellowship" (a.k.a. Sunday School) and we watched a wonderful Nooma video. if you have never heard of Nooma or Rob Bell, I highly recommend looking into them...they'll SERIOUSLY make you think. Our Associate Pastor preached a wonderful sermon while our Pastor had a vacation Sunday. I put a pot of beans on to slow-cook, so we got home to the smell of a yummy lunch ahead of us. I even baked (from a mix) some cornbread this morning before we left, so lunch was done! We just had to eat it! :o) I LOVE my slow-cooker! Today will likely be a very lazy day. I didn't sleep well last night and since we aren't having evening services tonight (since so many travel for the holidays) I am contemplating putting on my wa...

Happy Thanksgiving To You All!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you... ...and a special note of thanks to Traci @ Living the Good Life for info on changing up my blog - look for changing seasonal decor...I can't decorate my house, so I'll decorate my blog instead! :o)We will be at church tomorrow morning, then visiting family at the in-law's tomorrow afternoon...then Friday we'll visit my family in Tulsa. By the way, please pray for my mom to heal thoroughly and quickly after her hernia surgery today. She's doing well...and I'll post sometime after we get back or over the weekend to update you all! Be blessed...I am! *FRIDAY Update! - We had a great time at the church and then went on to the in-law's to be with family for the bigger part of the afternoon. It was great fun! However, Kiddo started his nasty cough again and we checked him for a fever - he had a low-grade fever last night. We've dosed him up on Sudafed and Benedryl again and some immune boosters, too. Pray that he'l...

Holiday Traditions & Ideas

Today I taking part in the Internet Cafe's Celebrating the Holidays...uh...carnival? I'm not too sure what to call it but at least I'm participating, right? :o) I am supposed to blog about what our family traditions are. To tell you the truth, we're trying to figure them out. Since we have Hubby's parents very close, MY parents a couple of hours away and then our own little family we have to alternate. Thanksgiving with one and Christmas with the other...then we switch the next year. Almost ALWAYS Christmas morning is the three of us alone...then we'll meet up with family that afternoon usually. It's a bit of a struggle, but we love to celebrate with our families so we figure it out. That is the general idea, but now I'll go a little more in-depth: Our church has recently begun offering Thanksgiving Dinner at the church (for a minimal charge - you could NOT go to a restaurant for this price!) and we get to celebrate Thanksgiving family-style - laughing...

What An Honor to Be A Blessing...

I showed up today at a public school near my church where several of our church members volunteer with NOVO Ministries . They put on a Bible Club every Thursday from 3:00-4:30 for any students that are willing to hear what God has to say through His Word. They are currently running about 60 kids strong and have about five volunteers regularly and one that comes as she feels up to it. I have felt a desire to participate but I have to say that honestly as a homeschooling parent I had to decide whether or not to "subject" my child. We had a chat about it yesterday and today and Kiddo decided he wanted to go, so we showed up and were greeted with the most wonderful hugs and thanks. Apparently they were going to be minus TWO volunteers today. She went to our church before NOVO and asked all the staff there to pray that God would provide a way...and in Kiddo and I walked! What a wonderful way to witness God's blessings...by being a part of it. I pray often (anytime I think of i...

Ha-HA! I'm Changing It Up On Ya! :o)

I decided that I wanted either something girly or more blue. I let Kiddo help me pick it out...and since he's a BOY (and there weren't any cute girly things that I could find and I don't feel like taking HOURS on this thing right now! :o) this is what we came up with. Hope you like it...the only way this blue could be made better is if it have lots of royal blue (a.k.a. cobalt blue) - which is my FAVORITE color! Gonna go for now - we're volunteering later this afternoon and Kiddo needs help with his work right now! Be blessed!

It's Been So LONG!

I feel like I haven't blogged in a week...oh wait! I haven't! :o) I have been a little busy, but just trying to get things situated and comfortable. I did decide last week however to clean my front porch and here are the highlights: BEFORE This is the creature whom I disturbed...and eventually my hero came to my rescue and killed it(I'm pretty sure it was a Black Widow and did NOT want my adorable little guy (OR Kiddo either! :o) getting bitten! And here's our "adorable little guy" - one bite and he'd be down for the count for SURE! He's only 4.5 pounds...and yes he IS full grown. And he IS a Chihuahua (many people have not seen one with Chuy's coloration) and he IS VERY SPOILED! But look at him! :o) Kiddo is laughing over my shoulder...he's REALLY loving this post! :o) And THEN...this is how it looked AFTER Yeah...the last picture is a BONUS! This is the tree in our front yard before it lost all of its leaves. Now it's bare - it is usually...

Tuesday Morning Bible Study...

I love following the blog at HeavenlyHomemakers.com and today they have a great post about being thankful in all circumstances. You should check it out... Anyway, I wanted to participate in Gratituesday this week. On Tuesday mornings I go to a Bible study at my church. I am so thankful for this wonderful group of women. It is a godly group of loving friends and I am so blessed to have found them! There are several opportunities in which to interact that I am not available, but I am blessed that Tuesday mornings I can take Kiddo to the nursery to play with some of the "babies" (really they are toddlers, but he LOVES feeling older and useful!) and other homeschooled friends. Ms. Marilyn and Ms. Doris takes GREAT care of the kids and Kiddo gets a real kick out of them...he thinks they are so funny! :o) I have even decided to help put together Thanksgiving baskets this year with some of the women from my Bible study...I'm sure Kiddo will love to help with that, as well. (He ...

I'm SO Ready for A New Topic!

Aren't you? I mean...really?! This has been a crazy week. But here I am, posting just because I want to put a new topic on my blog. :o) Because you're worth it! :o) Mr. and Mrs. Pink are becoming great friends - I really look more and more forward to hanging out as all of the kids get along well and so do the grown-ups! We laugh a LOT! It's nice...I get to burn calories that way! :o) Tomorrow we have church and I am already missing my Heart to Heart mentor group. It's over and I hope that I might be able to sign up for a new session later...but if the topics stay the same, I REALLY want others to learn what I did last time - so I'll just wait to see what they offer next time. Well, I have to go make lunch - don't know what, but I'll find something - so be blessed and I will post again soon!

God Is In Control...

The outcome of yesterday's election are beside the point here...no matter WHO is in office, God remains in control. God is all-knowing and this has not caught Him off guard in the least. And no matter what choices are made, they are in God's Will and we must remain faithful to Him. This goes for not only those who are leading our great country, but for every one of us. I have asked God to grant me peace in every situation, because when you have peace and can remain level-headed, it is easier to see where you will go next or what your next choices are. It doesn't mean it is easy, just easi-ER. God is good ALL THE TIME and all the time GOD IS GOOD. This means something different in each and every situation. Today it means that God is providing and will sustain us until we have more money in our account. Tomorrow it may mean that though I have been wronged by a friend, God is in control and knows the entire situation inside and out when I know a mere fragment of what is going ...
